Cultural Vitality

Our partners promote cultural vitality, community health and collective well-being. We recognize that supporting the healing process from colonial trauma and the exploitation of people, lands and resources is foundational to our work. Through focused training that decolonize and indigenize internal processes and systems, to community programs that celebrate, and honor our Tlingit, Haida, and Tshimsian partner’s cultural heritage, we work to promote respect and understanding across Southeast.

Internal Healing, Truth telling, & Decolonization

We work with entities like the First Alaskans Institute to offer Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, decolonizing training throughout our network. We prioritize the process of trust building, truth telling, and healing as a foundation for all of our time together as partners and throughout all project building.

Community-wide Healing & Cultural Vitality Work

From carving programs to surf camps, arts and language programs and culture camps, our Partners catalyze programs that strengthen cultural vitality, promote community unity and understanding, cultivate mental and physical strength, and generate healthier more resilient communities.

“The promotion of equity and addressing the root causes of the ‘isms’ such as racism and colonialism...is justice. Justice is a prerequisite to unity. Taking action for the future of our next generations is vital. I want my grandchildren's grandchildren to be able to live a beautiful life here in Southeast Alaska, to know their languages and songs, to walk on and care for the lands and all people, to have access to traditional arts, foods and medicines, and to love themselves."
