Community: Juneau

Juneau is Alaska’s Capital City and the urban center of Southeast Alaska. Despite being the only state capital that is not connected to a road system, it is one of the most visited communities in the state. Homeland to the Tlingit people, the wider community includes Douglas (T’aaku), Auke Bay (A`akw), and Thane. With a thriving art scene, Juneau is known as the “Northwest Coast Art Capital of the World.” Its economy includes commercial fishing, a vibrant visitor industry, and a variety of local and regional businesses.
